2018 AG Bell Convention


The AG Bell Convention is a place to learn, network and connect with your community of parents, professionals and individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. 

You'll have the opportunity to spend time with old friends and colleagues and meet new ones by taking advantage of the many opportunities to connect with others. 

You'll also learn the latest about research and innovative practices related to listening and spoken language.

What's New?

Professional-oriented programming begins on Thursday with pre-convention workshops (separate fee) and concludes on Saturday.

Parent/Family-oriented programming begins on Friday and concludes on Saturday.

Programming for individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing will be on Friday and Saturday.



Convention Highlights


Ten preconvention workshops 

Ten Podium + Poster presentations followed by a Poster Reception with numerous additional posters and networking sessions. 

30-minute Accentuate sessions and 1-hour Knowledge-Building/Interactive Concurrent sessions 

General session led by Keynote presenter and renowned self-management expert Joy Baldridge. Her presentation, Critical Conversations: Innovative Tools for Exceptional Communication, will provide uplifting and life-changing ideas AG Bell members can learn and apply immediately in all aspects of life. 

AG Bell Chairman’s Awards Dinner (separate ticket required). 

A time-honored AG Bell Research Symposium on Saturday morning, supported again this year by a grant received from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD)/National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The symposium, The Binaural Brain: How it Perceives Language, and Challenges to Auditory Processing, will feature a slate of scientists who will share current research and offer applications to everyday life based on their findings.  The research symposium educational format now includes one-hour preconvention online learning sessions in May 2018 and Saturday afternoon one-hour post-sessions, where attendees and presenters can interact and ask questions about the finer points of the presented research.

Keynote Speaker

Joy Baldridge, CPC, CSP, is a renowned self-management expert who helps the best companies in the world become even better at increasing revenue and productivity while decreasing stress and frustration.  She began her speaking and training career at birth. Her first official speaking engagement was at the White House at the age of 19. She got there by cold calling the president.
